The Methylation MapFor anyone who has taken a methylation test

Your methylation test has a lot to teach you. This Map shows you how to read it.

A plain-English guide from a biologist who reads these for a living. Twenty minutes, a pen, and your own results, and you come away with four clear answers about how you are wired.

A Good DecisionWhy your test was worth it

Testing was a smart move. This is where it starts to pay off.

Most people go their whole lives without hearing the word methylation. You tested, and you went looking for what it means. That curiosity is exactly what makes this worthwhile. Your data is real, it is yours, and it does not expire; you can come back to it for the rest of your life.

Methylation reports are dense. They name the genes and show the letters, and the meaning is left for you to work out. The Map fills in that meaning one question at a time, clears up a few popular myths along the way, and shows you what is worth asking next.

Already done

Your data, for life

GA, CT, two copies. Every letter in your report is a real piece of how you are built, and it will be just as true in twenty years.

What the Map adds

The meaning

What your letters point toward, what they leave open, and the two blood numbers that show how your pathway is running today.

Where it leads

The bigger picture

Methylation touches sleep, mood, hormones, and detox. Once you can read one pathway, you start to see how much more of yourself is knowable.

Three popular myths, cleared up

  • Everyone has common variants. They are not mutations that need fixing.
  • Slower variants are not always noticeable. Carrying one does not mean you will feel it.
  • Your variants show your body's tendencies in handling nutrients. The only way to know for sure how your pathway is running is blood testing.

A letter is a tendency, not a verdict. Every tendency you understand is one less thing to guess about.

What's Inside34 pages in two parts

Part One answers four questions. Part Two is the reference.

Part One: read your result. Print the worksheet, grab a pen, and open your test. By the end you have two filled sheets and four answers about yourself:

  1. How well do I activate folate from food?
  2. Does my B12 reach my cells, and can I trust my B12 number?
  3. Does my recycling line keep up?
  4. How fast do I spend methyl groups, or do they back up?

Part Two: the reference. Everything behind the answers, written so a curious teenager could follow it.

  • Thirteen genes, one page each, with a drawn picture of what each one does.
  • Homocysteine and MMA, the two blood numbers that show how the whole line is running.
  • What the big trials found, so you know where the evidence is strong and where it is thin.
  • Where to find your letters in your own test, whichever company you tested with.
  • Two real-life stories and six things to keep in mind.

The Genomics CompanyOne system of nine

Methylation is one chapter. You have nine.

At The Genomics Company we read your genes in nine groups: mood and behavior, sleep, detox, methylation, hormones, diet, the heart and vessels, the immune system, and the drug genes. Each one runs a different part of you, and the full picture becomes clear when they are read together.

The Map is a good place to start because methylation touches so many of the others. Most people finish it surprised by how much of themselves turns out to be readable, and curious about what the other eight chapters hold. When you are ready for those, we are here.

There is no such thing as average. We help you read the plans that are yours.
